I've had two really good pieces of advice which always stand me in good stead - if in doubt, brew up (tea, that is!) and never miss a good opportunity to shut up. It's amazing how much you can learn by listening to other people and no problem seems to be quite as bad after a cup of tea and a chat with a friend (especially if you've got a nice biscuit to dunk too). Other than that, I guess one of my most distinctive features is my amazing collection of bad jokes - if we meet each other, test me, they are awful.
